By the half hour mark the match was virtually all over bar the shouting. Guest Jay had scored a quality goal on his debut with us but must have quietly wondered what he had let himself in for. The Mufti were leading 8 - 2 and passing the ball around the White Bibs moving with ease and precision like they were Kendrick Lamar dancers at the Superbowl LIX half time. This was definitely not the debut that Jumhal had probably promised his guy.

Now this is where the philosophy of our team comes into play. Some players will tell you that when they are destroying a team it is not fun. Stop press, rewind, being far ahead through being better on the night is apparently NOT FUN. Okay with that in mind the Mufti were probably not having fun. Just over six minutes later Leon94 had a hat-trick and Ellislewis123 had injected fun into proceedings by grabbing the ball at the car park end fence and running the entire length of the pitch past any of the Mufti who tried to tackle him and scored one of the all time classic goals of our fixture.

Surely fun had arrived because with Ellislewis123's goal the score became Mufti 8 - 7 White Bibs. The Mufti were asking the questions of themselves while Ellislewis123, still not tired, went on a personal lap of honour.

Shaken from his reverie Eddie117 would suddenly become the assist king for the Mufti as he squared the ball across the area three times for the now totally on fire MSGomes to score a hat-trick in under three minutes.

Mufti 11 - 7 White Bibs Suddenly order was restored.

With the next team arriving and the match drawing to a close, goals from Leon94 and a magnificent volley from BILZ96 had brought the score to Mufti 11 - 10 White Bibs before MSGomes brought up his double hat-trick and put the Mufti 12 - 10 ahead.

The match was won again by the Mufti and all that was left for the White Bibs was exhortations from the spectator Bonney whom we now know specialises in motivating teams to play their hearts out.

Coach Hagenius was acting as the full stop in the Mufti goal. He was going to see the match out, period. Nothing would pass him by. This is what we understand to be 'fun' apparently.

Leon94 on the other hand does not know 'fun', he only knows goals. He collected the ball in his own half advanced and beat Coach from range.

Mufti 12 - 11 White Bibs

It was squeaky bums time. Everyone began playing like it was Golden Goal.

Ball falls to BILZ96 just inside the halfway line. Mufti keeper shouts "man on Bilz he can shoot". And that was all they wrote because shoot he did and the score was Mufti 12 - 12 White Bibs. The game was heading to the first Noble Draw of the year.

The next team were at the gate. Some people knew it was over, others didn't. Guest Jay did not know as he collected the ball outside his own area and ran forward. Leon94 did not know the game was over when he received the ball from Jay and hit it into the net.

Mufti 12 - 13 White Bibs

The next team finally rattled the gate and the game was actually over. Having never been ahead all night long the White Bibs had won with virtually the last kick. One might say that was 'fun'.

The Mufti decided that after leading 8 - 2 but not winning they may not have really had much fun in the end. Recriminations were directed to their keeper. Ellislewis123, an attacking midfielder for the White Bibs, would later publish the following in defence of goalkeepers across the land.

"I would always look at how you stop a goal from the source of how it was scored before I look at any goalie involvement. Goalie is last line. Forwards then midfield are first line then who ever is the last man to stop the shot. If you cannot see where the fault is you cannot blame the keeper. "

Well if an experienced attacking player can say that then the goalkeepers union gracefully accept and yes I think some of us did find fun.

BILZ96 and Leon94 shared Player of the Match by recommendation of their peers.

Leon94 wins the match ball for scoring seven goals.

And because I can and sometimes do I award the Goal of the Game to Ellislewis123 for his solo length of the pitch run on 36 minutes.

Finally we recognise Guest Jay for a sterling debut in which he scored a brace and motivated those around him to a famous victory through leading by example, never letting his head drop and playing until the final whistle.
